The Simpsons Movie Review
Yes after a longer wait then I had anticipated last night I saw The Simpsons Movie, now the line up to go into the cinemas was awesome the crowd was really pumped and couldn't wait to get in there. Once we finally did the crowd dulled down a bit by the longest previews sessions in history...34 minutes of previews is a good way to piss off a pumped up crowd for a movie we paid to see, not previews and ads about donating organs. First off right off the bat the beginning of the film was great, Homer saying what idiots we are to pay money to see something we could see for free on TV, classic Homer and classic start to the film.
Now before I go into the plot and my opinions on the film, let me say that the cartoons in this film were amazing seeing The Simpsons group of character I have grown up with since a kid looking so life like and realistic was great. The cartoons were the best I have seen from any movie apart from the imaging stuff from movies like Shrek and others from Pixar. Now all the characters we know and love are there and all get a part in the movie small or large they get to have their say which is great, I was hoping they wouldn't just focus on The Simpsons family and give the other characters a go which they did.
The plot is about Springfield closing down the dumping of garbage into Lake Springfield, due to the highly polluted water and the next time it is dumped with garbage it will reach boiling point. Homer as always is the one to dump his garbage in the water next, all to get some free donuts classic The scene with Quimby testing the wall around the lake with Cletus would have to be one of the funniest scenes. Homer dumps a silo worth of pig crap from his new pet Spider-Pig into the lake which is really the start of the domino effect in the whole movie, from being locked in a dome, chased with flaming torches, going to Alaska and saving the say Homer does it all in this movie.
Now of course it's The Simpsons Movie but of course Homer has the main plotline on his side, all the others have their little side plots or little appearances but it is mainly Homers quest to save Springfield that is the main focus in the film. Now the movie really did dig at the heart strings and had much more sentimental and sad scenes then I expected it would, when Marge leaves Homer to save Springfield I swear at least 5 people teared up and it was moving. Just something that The Simpsons has done so well over the years, making you so attached to the character cartoon or not you love the characters and even though they can be quirky they are a great family.
Okay onto my opinion of the film, best scene throughout the entire film would have to be Spider-Pig. As soon as Marge asks how the pig tracks got on the roof the crowd erupted in laughter. Just the weird and odd humor that gets me going which was great. Now the comedy in this film wasn't as much as I thought it would have, don't get me wrong it had funny scenes but it just wasn't as funny as I had hoped. Now for those who have seen The Family Guy Movie it was awesome, great comedy throughout, but The Simpsons felt like it was lacking something and felt more that it was dragged out due to the 90 odd minutes. Now I thought they would have a problem to extend it so long and they did a good job at it, but it did seem to lull in some parts.
Walking into the film I was pumped and ready to give it a 9 at least star rating, but when I left I was like...was that it. Yeah it was good but not great, I know The Simpsons have been around a long time and I think if this movie was made say 5th or 6th season instead of so long after it debuted it would have been much better overall. But as I said the movie was good, not the best I thought they could've done but still a great flick. I will definitely buy the film when it's out on DVD and again I stress the fact that I don't dislike the movie at all, just feel that is dipped on what I thought it could do. But it's breaking allot of box offices records and is doing much better then they thought it would and all Simpsons fans will love it. One little tid-bit for Simpsons fans, it was great to have the voice of Hank Scorpio Albert Brooks to do the voice of the villain in the film, I loved him as Scorpio and he was awesome in this film and his scenes with the President were great.
So I recommend everyone see this film and post a review of comments on what you thought, the ending was good it did what it had to do and was a good way to end it on a high. The crowd was pumped almost all night part from the over long previews, not sure if they did that because it's The Simpsons but who knows. I'm rating The Simpsons Movie an 8/10, not as funny as I expected it to be but a great Simpsons Movie so a definite 8 out of 10. If you love the Simpsons or have only seen a few episodes SEE THE MOVIE you will not regret it.
Hope you enjoyed the Review and I'm looking forward to catching Evan Almighty and I Pronounce You Chuck And Larry when they are released here, reviews will done for these aswell. So post your thoughts and comments on the film or my review in this thread or do a Review yourself, would love to see what others thought. So until next Review...Spider-Pig, Spider-Pig does whatever a Spider-Pig does.
Great review man! This movie far exceeded my expectations. I was expecting, a pretty boring movie to be honest. Televisions shows can be ruined by movies, but this one had me laughing the whole way. The only thing that I wish they would have done differently, is make a more complex plot. It seemed like watching an episode instead of a movie you know? Either way, great review.
Cheers!!

I didn't find the movie boring, I found it quite funny in most parts. But definately in some parts of the movie the film lulled and you could tell that they were struggling with the time to fill, but still a very funny film. I think the plot was good, I didn't want a huge overealistic plot that would have The Simpsons saving the entire world. Since they are just a normal everyday family, the plot was bordering on that but I found it was a good way to drag all the plots together at the end. Thanks for you comments R2I, I would love to see a review from you on what you thought
Two thumbs up! I'd give it more but i only have two thumbs. Anyway great review. I'll be sure to watch this one, but I'll probably wait till it comes out on DVD. _________________ This is the end of my post.

You should try and catch it at the movies mate, always better to see a film as good as this on the big screen.
Awesome review yet again dude!...I finally got to see it, and even though the movie felt like it had been rushed, I really enjoyed it...I haven't laughed so loud at the movies for a while...I can't wait for it to come out on DVD! _________________

Yeah the movie felt rushed but it didn't take away from the movie, which was good. Not many movies can feel rushed and still come out as a good film but this one did it. Same can't wait till the DVD comes out
