For all those out there who are not from Britain, which at the moment is all of you, this is a run down of how film certificates work in Britain
- Universal Children's - Videos classified Uc are particularly suitable for pre-school children.
- Universal - Videos classified U are particularly suitable for children above the age of 4
- 'PG' Parental Guidance - General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch. A ‘PG’ film should not disturb a child aged around eight or older. However, parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger or more sensitive children.
 - 12A – Suitable for 12 years and over. No-one younger than 12 may see a ‘12A’ film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. No-one younger than 12 may rent or buy a ‘12’ rated video or DVD. Responsibility for allowing under-12s to view lies with the accompanying or supervising adult.
- '15' – Suitable only for 15 years and over. No-one younger than 15 may see a ‘15’ film in a cinema. No-one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video or DVD.
- 18' – Suitable only for adults. No-one younger than 18 may see an ‘18’ film in a cinema. No-one younger than 18 may rent or buy an ‘18’ rated video.
- 'R18' - To be shown only in specially licensed cinemas, or supplied only in licensed sex shops, and to adults of not less than 18 years. The ‘R18’ category is a special and legally restricted classification primarily for explicit works of consenting sex between adults. Films may only be shown to adults in specially licensed cinemas, and videos may be supplied to adults only in licensed sex shops. ‘R18’ videos may not be supplied by mail order. _________________

Oh, I was wondering why your Evil Dead box set had the 18 stamped on it. Now I know.
That's a pretty big rating system you guys have there in the UK!
Cheers!!

Hahahaha trust the British people to make everything confusing...Yeah we have had this rating system since 1984 when the Video Recordings Act was brought into action and a lot of horror movies were banned here for example:
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (was banned from 1979 to 2000)
The Evil Dead (was banned from 1982 - 1990)
The Exorcist (was banned from 1974 - 2002)
The British Government don't take kindly to explicit violence and sex...Do you guys know of any films that were banned in your countries? _________________

It's very rare for a movie to be banned here in the states, but back in the '30s films like Freaks and Frankenstein were banned in certain cities. But nowadays we have the First Amendment to back-up most film making, however there are many people that wish Michael Moore's films would be banned.
Cheers!!

Manhunt 2 has been quickly banned in many areas, but here in the US it's getting an Adult rating.
That would be great man!
Cheers!!

NFS Carbon is a sweet game...I have it for the PC...I love the fact that there is a team work option on this one, it really does make the game more interesting...Well anyway the thread is open now, I might make one for discussion on TV shows too..Let me know what you think. _________________

Wow Both of you have complicated rating systems, but thats just because I'm not used to it. We only have four ratings here in the US. _________________ This is the end of my post.

Tell me about it...But I suppose the ratings are there for a reason and the BBFC come down pretty hard on you if you break their laws. _________________
